Educational Outreach
During the fall,
119 classrooms were visited in 10 different schools.
The Museum Educator has been concentrating outreach activities in Carson
County and in the five adjoining counties of Armstrong, Gray Hutchinson,
Potter, and Randall.
2,570 students and teachers were provided with personalized programs
employing the Museum's seven history, art, and holiday trunks.
690 people viewed one or more of our 31 historical videotapes.
On-Site Activities and Public Programming
15.525 persons visited
the Museum in 2000
6,242 came individually or in family groups from across the region from
all parts of Texas, from 38 other states, and from 7 foreign countries
1,300 were part of the 30 guided tours; 1,000 were students and teachers
from area schools
Another 3,000 people participated in a variety of activities, including
meetings of social and business groups; lectures, workshops, and interpretive
programs; weddings in the Conway Church; musical performances; and receptions
for our exhibiting artists
More than 1,400 hours were spent by students, community volunteers,
and instructors in the 2nd Annual Line Camp and 30th Annual Summer Youth
program offered in Panhandle and White Deer
An Antique Automobile Show was held on museum grounds during the 35th
Annual Museum Day in September. There were 28 entries from Carson and
sorrounding counties
Exhibitions
19 temporary exhibits
were shown in 2000; 3 utilized items from the Museum's permanent collection,
and 16 were brought in from outside
Youthful talent was featured in the 8th annual Student Art Show, featuring
works from Carson and Armstrong County schools
Collections
524 items were added
to the permanent collection in 2000, including numerous books from Jo
Stewart Randel's collection. At the end of the year the total collection
numbered 24,902 items
Support
777 people contributed
over 3,325 hours of their time, volunteering to help with museum activities
and fundraising events
